Changing legend labels and position
You can add legend and x-axis labels to a chart series to make a chart easier to understand.
You can also specify the position of the chart legend. There are two legend types — horizontal and vertical — that can be placed inside the chart frame.
To add legend and x-axis labels to a series |
1.

Click a chart.

Click Chart Source data.
|
3.
|
|
Choose a series from the list.
|
4.
|
|
Type a label in the Legend label box.
|

You can specify a range of legend labels by clicking the Range picker in the Legend labels box.
|
•

|
You can specify a range of x-axis labels by clicking the Range picker in the X-axis labels box.

To change the position of a legend |
1.
|
|
Click a chart.
|
2.
|
|
Click Chart Legend properties.
|
3.
|
|
Click the Format tab.
|
4.
|
|
Enable the Display legend check box.
|
5.
|
|
In the Position area, enable one of the position options.
|
If you want the legend placed in the chart, enable the Place legend inside chart check box.

6.

|
In the Legend type area, click one of the following legend types:

Horizontal
|
•
|
Vertical
|
•
|
|
You can specify a horizontal or vertical legend only if the Place legend inside chart check box is enabled.
