Displaying data labels

You can display a series’ data labels to show the accurate value of each data point. The data labels are generated from the data series. You can specify the source of the data labels. In addition, you can specify where the data labels display in relation to the data points.


To display data labels

Click a chart, and click a chart series.

Right-click the selected series, and click Series properties.

Click the Data labels tab.
4.
 
Enable the Display check box.

To display data labels for a pie chart

Click the Data labels tab.

Enable the Display check box.

You can also
Place the data label inside a pie slice
Enable the Values on slices option.
Place the data label outside a pie slice
Enable the Values outside slices option.
Show leader lines between the label and slice
Enable the Show leader lines check box.
Display the data labels as percentages
Enable the Display values as percentages check box.

You can show leader lines only if the Values outside slices option is enabled.

To specify the source of data labels

Click a chart, and click a chart series.

Right-click the selected series, and click Series properties.

Click the Data labels tab.

Choose one of the following from the Source area:
Value
Legend label
Value and legend label
Custom

The Legend label, Value and legend label, and Custom options are not available for histograms, bubble charts, scatter charts, or polar charts.


To specify the position of data labels

Choose one of the following from the Position list box:
Above
Inside top
Inside center
